The Blessing Of Healing - 101.

We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing. That is every blessing God has for us is kept in the spirit realm for us to access as needed. This includes healing. ALL those who believe have the power in them to receive and give healing.

Mat 10:8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons: freely ye received, freely give.

This list of scriptures below which go to prove this is not a definitive list, just my list, and I'll add to it as time goes on but it could act as a starter for you also and give you a head start if you haven't got your own list as yet for building your faith.

God has many blessing stored up in heaven for us (spiritual and physical) but if we don't know what's available we won't ask for them in faith! This applies to the gift of healing also so that's why I assembled this list. All of these blessings are waiting for us stored in our mansions which Jesus has prepared for us. We just have to ask - for God is Good. Jesus' brother James knew this, which is why he said...

Jam 4:2 You do not have because you do not ask.

Healing has most definitely been provided for us all by Jesus as part of the atonement.

1Pe 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, in order that having died to sins, we might live unto righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.

Jesus healed whereever he went in Judea and people came from all the area around like Samaria and even foreign countries like Syria. Let's look at some of the times He healed in Judea.

Luk 4:38-40 And when He arose from the synagogue, He entered into the house of Simon. But Simon's mother-in-law was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him about her. And when He stood over her, He rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately rising up, she began to serve them. Now when the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on each one of them and healed them.

Luk 7:12-15 And when He came near the gate of the city, that behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And many people from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep."

Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, "Young man, I say to you, arise." So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He gave him to his mother.

Being able to heal people is part of the authority that Jesus gives his followers to equip them for preaching the gospel.

Luk 9:1-2 And having called together the twelve, He gave them power and authority over all demons, and to heal diseases. And He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

What we find therefore is that Jesus modelled for us what he expected His followers to do after Him! Jesus was always willing to heal people as He went about doing good and expounding on the gospel.

Mat 8:2-3 And behold, a leper came and worshipped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." And reaching out His hand, Jesus touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Pro 3:7-8 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

Mar 9:25-27 And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again." And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, "He is dead." But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.

Even when it brought danger onto himself Jesus was willing to heal!

Luk 6:6-10 On another Sabbath, he entered the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was withered. And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might find a reason to accuse him. But he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man with the withered hand, "Come and stand here." And he rose and stood there. And Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?" And after looking around at them all he said to him, "Stretch out your hand." And he did so, and his hand was restored.

Here we see Jesus showing us that even when under pressure from others to limit the outpouring of God's healing power we should not be brow-beaten but should heal those who are sick. On another occasion Jesus said...

Luk 10:8-9 Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick in it and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'

Notice that part and parcel of preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God is the healing of the sick! We Christians have been given the power to heal the sick and do other signs and wonders through faith in Jesus and by His name as part of our ministry to take the gospel to all people.

Healing can be the 'dinner gong' to bring people to eat at the table Jesus is preparing for all who will believe. We have to "SAY" what we want to see done and believe in faith that we have what we asked for.

Mar 11:22-24 And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

What we find is that when the disciples/followers acted on the word of Jesus then signs and wonders followed them. And not just the "big boys" like Paul and Peter but all of them!

Act 8:6-8 And the crowds with one accord paid attention to what was being said by Philip when they heard him and saw the signs that he did. For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. So there was much joy in that city.

Now let's look some more at the examples that Jesus left us of what the Christian is capable of doing when they walk in the spirit and do everything in Jesus' name.

Mat 9:35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.

Mat 14:34-36 And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. And when the men of that place recognized him, they sent around to all that region and brought to him all who were sick and implored him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well.

Luk 13:10-13 Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your disability." And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God.

Jesus showed us that all kinds of disabilities and sickness and illnesses can be healed as long as we speak to them in faith, never doubting.

Jer 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

We can have knowledge of how to pray for others and get results when we call on God because in our spirits we know the mind of God. What we have to do is get that knowledge into our hearts and minds so that we can have everyone involved full of faith for immediate answers.

3Jn 1:2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

It isn't a question of how long others have tried to bring a cure to the person either. Just because the doctors have tried for decades to fix a problem or prayers have been given does not mean that everything has been done according to God's word to bring healing.

Joh 5:5-9 Now there was certain man there who had an ailment for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw this man lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you wish to become well?" The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I do not have a man, so that whenever the water is stirred up, he may put me into the pool; but while I am coming, another descends before me."

Jesus said to him, "Arise, take up your bed and walk." And immediately the man became well, and took up his bed, and began to walk.

This happened on the sabbath and it's interesting how many of Jesus' healings were done on this day. When man rested God worked.

Joh 9:5-7 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." Having said these things, he spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man's eyes with the mud and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.

The man showed his faith by going and washing in the pool and he was healed.

Act 4:29-31 Now, Lord, look upon their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by extending Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may occur through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus." And when they had prayed, the place where they were gathered was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Jesus wants us to follow his example; To walk by the spirit and according to what the Holy Spirit tells us we act; To bring an end to oppression brought on people by the devil.

Act 10:38 Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all those who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.

Mat 9:35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.

This is why Jesus specifically told his disciples that they had the authority to work in signs and wonders, and also He said that His later followers would continue in those same gifts and signs and wonders.

Mat 10:1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.

Jesus even healed people in the disciples families to show them that this is not just for people we are leading to Christ. It's not just for outsiders in other words.

Mar 1:30-34 Now Simon's mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them. That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.

This gift of healing is also for a demonstration of the power of God as the gospel is preached. These signs and wonders confirm where God is working.

Luk 7:22 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: that the blind regain sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Of course, we have Jesus living in us and through us by the Spirit and Jesus is the same yesterday, today and always.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

And Jesus has given us all the commission to preach the gospel and so signs and wonders WILL accompany those who believe and follow Him.

Mar 16:15-18 And he said to them, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Now let's look at a number of scriptures which show how willing God is to heal His people and those He is leading to Himself.

Luk 6:17-19 And he came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. And those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came out from him and healed them all.

Luk 13:16 And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?"

Mat 10:7-8 And proclaim as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.

Mar 1:40-42 And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, "If you will, you can make me clean." Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, "I will; be clean." And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.

It's Jesus' will to heal and Jesus is the exact expression of the Father so it's also the Father's will to heal.

Luk 14:2-4 And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy. And Jesus responded to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?" But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away.

Notice here again that when men rest God works at healing.

Mat 11:4-5 And Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

Even poverty is on Jesus' agenda for those suffering from it to be given good news!

Luk 4:18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who a re oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

And this was prophesied in advance as Luke confirms in his gospel.

Jesus modelled all the things He wanted His followers to do after Him. He raised Lazarus from the dead showing that the authority He would give to His followers included ALL that He said.

Joh 11:43-44 When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out." The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."

Jesus and His followers raise people from the grave and loose them from all the things which bind them.

Luk 7:6-10 And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed. For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, "I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith." And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.

Non-christians in Jesus' day had the faith to receive healing. People like this centurian who did not have Holy Spirit in them, were not born again, and did not have a covenant relationship with God. Should not Christians of today have at least as much faith as them? If we do Jesus says...

Mal 3:6 "For I the LORD do not change

Jesus will do the part He did then!

Act 3:1-8 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us." And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!" And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.

Mar 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.

Act 14:8-10 Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was crippled from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, said in a loud voice, "Stand upright on your feet." And he sprang up and began walking.

God wants us to become elder statesmen and stateswomen in the spirit, whom He can use to bring His blessings and grace to others, thus giving a point of contact showing how He is working in the world!

Jas 5:14-16 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

Mat 9:20-22 And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, for she said to herself, "If I only touch his garment, I will be made well." Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, "Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well." And instantly the woman was made well.

Luk 4:33-37 And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, "Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God." But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm. And they were all amazed and said to one another, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!" And reports about him went out into every place in the surrounding region.

1Jn 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

Luk 18:41=42 "What do you want me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, let me recover my sight." And Jesus said to him, "Recover your sight; your faith has made you well."

Act 4:10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead--by him this man is standing before you well.

Mat 9:23-26 And when Jesus came to the ruler's house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, he said, "Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping." And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. And the report of this went through all that district.

Mat 12:22 Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw.

Mar 3:10 for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him.

Isa 40:29 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.

Luk 8:28-33 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice, "What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me." For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.) Jesus then asked him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Legion," for many demons had entered him. And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss. Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him to let them enter these. So he gave them permission. Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.

Heb 12:12-13 Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.

Joh 6:63 It is the Spirit who makes alive; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Mat 4:23-24 And Jesus went about all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every illness among the people. And the report of Him went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all those were ill, suffering with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.

1Jn 3:8 ... For this reason the Son of God appeared, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Luk 5:24-26 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--He said to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house." Immediately he rose up before them, taking up the bed which he had been lying on, he went off to his own house, glorifying God. And amazement gripped them all, and they were glorifying God, and they were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen extraordinary things today!"

Luk 9:11 But when the crowds found out, they followed Him; and He welcomed them, and was speaking to them about the kingdom of God, and He cured those who needed healing.

Mar 8:23-25 And having taken the hand of the blind man, He led him outside the village, and having spit on his eyes, and having laid His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And when he looked up he said, "I see men like trees, walking." Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him to look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly again.

Mat 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

Isa 65:24 Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.

As it says, seek righteousness. Not your own but God's righteousness. Like your father Abraham, build faith in God and grow in grace. Your faith will be counted as righteousness. You wil be clothed in Jesus' righteousness. Live by the spirit and you will be well pleasing to God!

And you will do all the things that Jesus did, and even greater things, because he has gone ahead to our heavenly Father to represent us, and left us here (after saving us) to represent Him!

Best wishes for grace, and the peace of Jesus.
