Godly Life Is Also Practical!

God gives us provisions in good times and bad but He expects us to do practical things to cope with changes in the state of the world economy. He is our source not the world but he gives us brains as well so that we will use what he provides wisely! So be practical; Store up in times of plenty to cover the lean times

Genesis 41:34 (Joseph said) Let Pharaoh proceed to appoint overseers over the land and take one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt during the seven plentiful years. 35 And let them gather all the food of these good years that are coming and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and let them keep it. 36 That food shall be a reserve for the land against the seven years of famine that are to occur in the land of Egypt, so that the land may not perish through the famine.

We know that God will provide for His people. He has made many promises to that effect and unlike others, our God keeps His promises.

But as we can see in the case of Joseph in the land of Egypt, God wants us to be prudent and wise in the way we handle our resources. Here Joseph recommends to Pharaoh that he should store up surplus grain in bumper years to cover lack in lean years. Put by some savings to cover unforeseeable eventualities.

This is a good principle to hold in all ages. It's not just for Old Testament times.

Best wishes for Grace and the Peace of Jesus.
