Why Are We Here?

When John the baptizer saw Jesus coming towards him, at the start of Jesus' ministry, he said - "Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

John was seeing the future end of Jesus' life, when He would die for OUR sins as a sacrfice, which was foreshadowed in the life of Israel by the Passover lamb. He shed His blood for us.

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Jesus did indeed die as a perfect pure sacrifice for us. Notice He died for the sins of the world, not just Israel. He gave up His life so that we could have a future by accepting His death in place of our own! Now we, on doing this, can have eternal life.

But, we still have to live in this life after accepting Jesus. God has a purpose for us beyond just saving our skins. He wants us to live overcoming lives of purpose now. And this we do also by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus).

Revelation 12:11 They overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;

We can and should live an overcoming life and work out the full potential God has put in us to live a life filled with showing forth the purpose for which He placed us here (spreading the 'Good News').

That I believe is what our calling is all about.

Best wishes for Grace and the Peace of Jesus.
